History
The school was named after Joel Augustus Rogers (September 6, 1880 – March 26, 1966), a Jamaican-American author, journalist, and historian. He contributed to the history of Africa as well as the history of African Americans in the United States. His academic fields encompassed history, sociology and anthropology. By challenging existing ideas about race, and revealing the connections between civilizations, he became a legendary figure in the promotion of the knowledge of African history in the 20th century
